Free physics game where you play with swivel chairs

Chair Up! is a hilarious free action video game wherein you have to be the best office employee by moving your swivel chair around to complete tasks. Developed by Williams Xue, Steven Chen, and Yunci Guo, this top-down 4-player multiplayer game makes use of wild ragdoll physics, seemingly-inverted controls, and the slipperiness of a swivel chair’s squeaky wheels to make office life much harder than you thought it could be. With four unique levels, you and your friends can compete to see who’s the best at playing with a virtual spinning seat.

There’s a lot to be said about the hilarity of ragdoll physics and Chair Up! makes good use of this aspect. When you start the game, you get a simple tutorial that displays your selected controller—which can either be your keyboard or an Xbox controller—and your office-man ragdoll in his comfy swivel chair. The game doesn’t instruct you on what to do, and only points out the necessary controls and lets you test them with the ragdoll.

The left and right leg controls push and pull the chair, while the left and right leg brake controls stop it altogether. Level 1: Don’t Be Late! needs you to move into the elevators as fast as possible to get the most points or money in the level. In Level 2: Let's work, you answer client calls from the phones that appear on the map. You can bump into others to steal the phone. Bumping into the glass windows can result in you falling and getting a $150 deduction.

Level 3: Magic Mop has you painting the floor with your color the most, using various power-ups to gain the lead. Lastly, Level 4: Parkour Time, have you racing to the finish on platforms. The game levels loop, and only end when a player finally accumulates ten chair points and becomes the Best Employee. In essence, Chair Up! is a simple game, but the fun of swivel chairs, confusing controls, and local play makes it a recommended title.
